Seattle Street by rhyshaug Seattle Street by rhyshaug
Ink drawing I've been working on for a while. This is in Seattle, Washington at the corner of 2nd avenue and James street. Drawn with various colors of Micron pens. In retrospect, I'm not sure fine-tip ink was the best medium for this style of drawing. Drawings of urban-life are always something I liked, but I never tried to make them myself. Not a very big drawing, A4 paper. I included myself in the bottom, right corner. Of course it's too small to see much detail.

I like this kind of drawing and I believe you do it very well. The detail intimidates me from such an attempt.

Thanks buddy, I'm still new to drawing like this but I enjoy it. Just have to plan it out properly. :)

Thank you! And yes, I definitely used a photo. Though I didn't recreate it exactly. The buildings were nowhere near as colorful, mostly shades of beige and grey. It was easier to distinguish them by assigning them lively colors. I exaggerated the lighting and shadows to give it more depth; the photo was taken on a cloudy day and all the colors were flat. Wanted to give all the people, cars, buildings, and other objects strong and contrasted shading/cast-shadows. I also simplified most of the buildings to make them easier to draw, this was on a small sheet of paper. Added people/objects to emptier areas. But changing the lighting was probably the biggest departure from the photo.

Thank you for your feedback :)

Ah, fantastic work! The effort you put in here is really outstanding. The buildings look very straight and colorful. Do you use rulers when it comes to making them?
